A culture of community support and involvement started when Giant Steps Tasmania was first founded by a group of dedicated parents.  Without the support of the Deloraine and Meander Valley community, their hard work would have come to nothing.  The school owes much of its existence to the generosity of Rotary Clubs, service groups, religious organisations, families and friends.

Many of these individuals, clubs and organisations contribute to our Supporting the Awesome Program.

The Supporting the Awesome program began as the Sponsor a Child program several years ago as a means for community groups, organisations and businesses to support the work of Giant Steps Tasmania. However, while not all of our clients are still children, they are all still awesome, hence the change of name.

For as little as $250 per annum, individuals, clubs and organisations contribute significantly to the work of Giant Steps Tasmania and the experiences that the individuals who attend here have.  In return they receive two updates on the program a year. In this way our valued supporters can get a feel for how their money is being used and the types of programs which are being delivered.  Previous generous sponsors have included school groups, service clubs and community groups.  These groups have found that for a relatively small sum they can contribute to a very special cause.  The program has proven to be an incredibly successful and rewarding venture for all of those involved.

By supporting our awesome students and adult clients our generous communities allow us to continue our vital work with individuals on the Spectrum.
