An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterised by difficulty in social interactions, and identifying and expressing emotions.  To help our students increase their abilities in these areas, our staff spend time each day explicitly teaching these particular skills.

Staff use such tools as social stories, emotion wheels or thermometers, volume meters, a music therapy program, visual schedules and timetables, applications to explain turn taking, specific autism applications and various sensory toys to help students self-calm.

We also help the families of our students with resources and information so they are able to continue teaching these skills at home.  This contributes to a holistic approach to education. We develop strong partnerships with families and aim to assist wherever we can by taking students to dental or medical appointments, hospital visits, or to places such as the hairdressers when necessary.
